Software Circle, an AIM-listed software group, has bought Midexpro, a Swindon-based company that makes practice management software for private healthcare, for up to £4.5 million. The deal was reported on 26 October 2026. It is Software Circle's 12th acquisition.

What Midexpro does

Midexpro's systems cover appointment diaries and SMS reminders, a patient portal, integrated payments, next-day prescription orders and reporting. It says it supports nearly 800 private medical practices across the UK, and that its gross revenue retention is above 95% a year, meaning customers rarely leave.

The bigger picture

Software that clinics rely on is changing hands. In September, the Simplyhealth Group, which owns Denplan, bought FMC, whose Dentistry OS software covers compliance, HR and patient consent for dental practices. In 2025, Agilio Software bought the dental CRM DenGro. When a supplier is bought, the product usually carries on, but prices, contracts and development plans can change over time.

Analysis: what it means for your clinic

If Midexpro runs your diary, payments or prescriptions, nothing changes overnight. It is still worth checking three things: your contract's renewal date and notice period; whether you can export your patient and appointment data easily; and whether prices or support terms change at your next renewal. High retention rates show how hard it is to switch practice software, so knowing your exit options before you need them puts you in a stronger position.

What to watch next: any changes to Midexpro's pricing or product plans under its new owner.
